Election 2008 Twist Sarah Palin is out Debra Fields is in

What an interesting twist.

Sarah Palin has stepped down as VP candidate and John McCain has asked Debra J. Fields (of Mrs. Fields cookie fame) to step in.

Seems weird to me since the ballots have been printed and early voting is well underway in states that have early voting.

Strategically, or even tactically, what could be gained by making this switch? Is it legal, or the very least ethical? Now the media will have to do some vetting of Mrs. Fields qualifications and history so the people know who she is (other than a cookie baron(ness.)

I get the feeling with all that has transpired that the Republicans either really don't want to win this election or they have something even sneakier up their sleeves.

OK, someone was playing with FinalCut.
