Small Business and the Recession

Any economy has a backbone which is the worker. But, there is more than one thing that makes up a backbone - you have the bone, the discs and the nerves that run through it as well as blood vessels and other things. They are all very important to its operation.

The same is true when it comes to the economy. The worker could be seen as the bone itself, which makes up the majority of the spine. The discs, though smaller in volume, could be viewed as small businesses which act as the “go between” between the worker and the consumer/end user/buyer. Without this padding, or “go between” it would be much harder for workers to produce for the consumer.

It has oft been said that small businesses employ the majority of the workers in the U.S. economy. If that is true then they are the ones that should be getting assistance.

As I have said in previous articles - Times are tough and may get tougher.” If you are a small business you may not have a legal department or a human resources department or even a marketing department.

Would you like to have one of each, if for nothing more than getting answers to your questions? Chances are you can’t afford to hire anyone full time to be there to answer your questions.

Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc., in association with Fran Tarkenton (some of you may remember him from football), has a program to help small businesses. We call it our Small Business Plan. It gives you access to top-rated professionals in every aspect of owning and operating a small business. It includes legal, HR, marketing and more.
